Letting Go

"If she comes near me again, you must kill her." He spoke to the silence, elbows resting on his knees. He'd been there for an hour. Quietly thinking to himself.

And then, eventually. Are you addressing me?

He was quiet again for a minute. Reconsidering his words carefully. "Sí."

Silence filled the air and his head again. The demon in his mind was as wary of this as he was. Are you certain?

The vampire frowned, confused. "Will you not do it?"

She is causing you distress and has threatened you. And you may end up going after her anyway to right the wrongs you have let her do. Alejo cringed inwardly. He'd been ignoring that aspect of this whole thing. Of course I will get rid of her. With pleasure. She is a distraction with no use.

His frown vanished and he relaxed a little.

But are you certain you want this? It could probably feel his queries before he formed them. So it explained: I do not hesitate. I do not regret. I will kill her and move on. I will not monologue or wait for her last confession. She dies. She will be dead. It will be done and I will move on to better things without so much as a moment's thought.

There was a pause.

I will not give you time to stop me.

Alejo closed his eyes. "Good."
